2023-2024 Student Chamber

Twenty-five students make up our Student Chamber for this school year. This group consists of fifteen Seniors and ten Juniors who will learn more about the roles and functions of the Chamber and its Board of Directors. They will also participate in Youth Leadership Wayne and learn about their local community while developing leadership skills.

Leadership Wayne Class of 2024

The class of 2024 kicked off this year with Orientation Day on Thursday, August 10 at the Chamber of Commerce office. Ten community leaders were selected to be a part of the class that is designed to be an educational experience and advocates for a better community without taking a position on specific issues. They will embark on a ten-month journey of learning about challenges and opportunities in Wayne County while developing an awareness and appreciation of community resources and processes. Class is being led by co-chairs Sherna Spearman-Lott and Chris Hamilton and shadowed by Iman Johnson and Jason Weaver (who will co-chair next year’s class).

The Chamber honored community educators

The Chamber hosted its annual We’re Nuts About Our Educators event on Friday, September 16 at the Wayne County High School home football game. Educators were given boiled peanuts, drinks, and a spirit ribbon as a thank you for their commitment to our students. Peanuts were provided by Southeastern Gin & Peanut. Drinks and spirit ribbons were provided by the Chamber.

We offer many ways to get involved with our community, from volunteering through our Ambassador Program to joining one of the many committees we have.
